With a diverse background spanning human resources roles in compensation, benefits, recruiting, and employee relations across academia, non-profit, union, and entertainment sectors, she brings a wealth of expertise. Proficient in project management, coaching, and fostering relationships, she excels in mentoring young professionals and managing employee relations. Serving at Pace University, her journey began as the Assistant Director for MBA Programs and Services, overseeing career management programs and job development services for MBA/MS students, undergraduates, and alumni. Her tenure evolved into significant leadership roles, advancing to Associate Director, then Director of Employer Relations, demonstrating her adaptability and growth within the university setting. Her career highlights an exceptional tenure, showcasing her commitment, versatility, and progression in the field of career counseling, employer development, and human resources.
Paula King
Director - Career Counseling / Pleasantville Partnerships
A dedicated professional, she’s propelled by commitment, professionalism, and a contagious positive energy that steers her career trajectory. With a background in economics and higher education administration, she’s impassioned about effecting positive change for all students. Her vast educational roles encompass teaching, admissions, tuition management, career preparation, and campus leadership. Goal-driven, she attains favorable outcomes by implementing best practices, strategies, and innovations, successfully launching impactful programs, including tailored career resources for neurodiverse students in higher education.
As a leader at Career Services in New York City and Pace University’s Pleasantville campus, she collaborates with staff and faculty, nurturing a diverse student body and facilitating internship/full-time placements. Supervising a team guiding students and alumni, she aligns efforts with key executives, fostering a premier career services model for students’ career success. Collaborating with various directors, she aims to create a robust foundation for students’ professional growth and job placements in their desired fields. Her commitment to impactful, inclusive education and career development defines her professional ethos.
Kimberly Porter
Director of Operations, Assessment & Strategy
Dedicated to creating positive outcomes through a blend of creativity, insight, and reliable information, she possesses a keen awareness of people and their needs. Armed with a BA in Economics and an MS in Counseling, she bridges her passion for individuals and data. Positioned as the go-to problem-solver, she identifies challenges and offers adept solutions within her team or organization. As the head of the Operations Team for a 30-person Career Services Department across dual campuses, she oversees technology, marketing, and data management. Her expertise extends to managing social media, web content, and steering initiatives to collect, analyze, and report vast data sets. Her focus on educational, experiential, and employment outcomes reflects her commitment to operational efficacy and fostering organizational success.
Jane Shmidt
Director, Career Communities and INSPIRE
As the Director of Career Communities and the INSPIRE Program, Jane aims to bridge the gap between the university classroom and career preparation. She develops and manages career education programming to equip all Pace University students and recent graduates with the tools to pursue co-curricular opportunities and develop a clear roadmap for professional growth. Jane holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature, and her experience teaching courses in literature has informed her strategy in designing pedagogy to help emerging professionals integrate industry specific knowledge with valuable transferable skills.
A career changer herself, Jane is deeply aware of the importance of finding meaningful work that motivates and inspires and is passionate about helping students establish career goals that transcend traditional boundaries between academic disciplines, drawing on the diverse resources of the University to explore their interests experientially and advance their professional goals.
