Temporary Computer Equipment Setup Assistant
Kohlberg is opening a new office in Midtown Manhattan and is seeking a dependable college student to help receive, organize, install, and test computer and audiovisual equipment.
Schedule and Duration
This is a temporary, on-site assignment beginning as soon as possible and expected to last approximately two to three weeks.
Responsibilities
- Receive and carefully unbox computer and audiovisual equipment.
- Check equipment against packing lists and maintain an accurate inventory.
- Organize equipment, accessories, cables, and packaging.
- Install and connect equipment at employee workstations, including:
- Dual- or triple-monitor workstation setups
- Docking station
- Wireless keyboard and mouse
- Webcam
- Wireless headset
- Route and secure cables to create clean, professional workstations.
- Test each setup to confirm that the equipment powers on, connects properly, and functions as expected.
- Identify and report missing, damaged, or nonfunctioning equipment.
- Assist with installing and testing conference-room displays and other audiovisual equipment.
- Break down packaging and maintain a neat, organized, and safe work area.
Qualifications
- Organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and punctual.
- Comfortable connecting computer accessories and organizing cables.
- Familiarity with monitors, docking stations, USB devices, audiovisual equipment, and basic Windows computer setup is preferred.
- Able to follow instructions, work carefully, and complete tasks independently after initial guidance.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Able to perform hands-on installation work that may involve standing, bending, reaching, and working around or beneath desks.
- Able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 35 pounds independently, with or without reasonable accommodation, and assist with equipment weighing up to 50 pounds using a team lift.
Prior professional IT experience is not required. Candidates should be comfortable working with computer hardware and learning basic installation and testing procedures.
Compensation
$25 per hour. The selected candidate will complete the required payment and tax documentation before beginning work.
