Afterschool Counselor
The YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester is a charitable, not-for-profit organization serving 66 zip codes in Putnam and Westchester counties. The YMCA of CNW is committed to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We are looking for a committed Afterschool Counselor to complement our qualified workforce of educators.
The Afterschool Counselor is responsible for delivering a safe and developmentally high-quality educational and recreational experience for children. This is a ten-month, seasonal position.
Afterschool Counselor Job Duties:
- Assist the Site Supervisor in all daily program activities, including academic enrichment, physical activity, arts & crafts, and more.
- Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment for all children while supervising and maintaining licensing regulations.
- Be a positive role model for all participants.
- Foster the four YMCA character values of respect, responsibility, caring, and honesty within the program participants.
- Follow all YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical situations and emergency procedures.

Afterschool Counselor Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Pursuing or holding a degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field
- Associate’s Degree or CDA preferred
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills
