Part-Time Queens-Based Program Educator
Job Summary
The Health Educator is responsible for facilitating the Maurer Foundation’s Breast Health Education program to audiences ranging from high school/college students to community/corporate groups. This is a part-time position with variable hours. All hours worked for this position are outside of the office in locations mainly across Queens.
Accountability
The Outside Program Educator reports to the Program Director and Community Engagement and Education Specialist.
Responsibilities
- Conduct breast health programs in high schools and colleges
- Conduct community and corporate programs as needed
- Attend health fairs and disseminate appropriate information/materials
- Maintain accurate data and provide reports on program presentations and participants
- Stay updated on new research and trends related to breast health/breast cancer
- Assist in refining/updating program curriculum
Qualifications
- Bilingual preferred. Oral and written proficiency in both languages is expected.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred in health or education related field
- Comfortable speaking in front of a classroom a must
- The ability to lift and load luggage weighing up to 50 pounds and a height of 3-4 feet into and out of vehicle
- Must have a driver’s license and use of a working vehicle as travel in Queens and occasionally the other boroughs of NYC and Long Island is required
- Must have the ability to work typical high school hours, with occasional nights and weekends
