The Kasper Group, Inc. Anne Klein Division has a great opportunity for a Fabric Research and Development Assistant. The Fabric Research and Development Assistant will support the Director of Textile, working closely with Design and Production teams to establish and facilitate fabric production flow, research & development, counter sourcing, and stock distribution and completion. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Work with designers on fabric direction
- Request FDS sheets and work with suppliers on prices, minimums, fabric width, and fabric content
- Request swatches and source sub-proto yardage locally when necessary
- Keep precise and detailed records of all fabric developments from initial adoption through to pre- production
- Work closely with Design and Textiles team.
- Create binders, organize and maintain all of submits for all seasons for each division library.
- Miscellaneous organization, filing of fabrics, prints, color standard items.
- Assist in ordering all sample ydg for market
- Daily communication for all fabric follow up with the mills
- Cut 1/4 yd fabric cutting ref of all sample ydg received in house for our records/ file with FDS
- Request all FDS from mills for ALL qualtities sampled and save in corp Share folder
- Cut swatch of all sample ydg received and label with all fabric information for Design boards
- Assist designers in pulling ydg for sample cutting
- Keep sample ydg area neat and orderly every season
- Help organize fabric selections by mill/category upon receipt

- Must be very organized and detail oriented
- Great time management and ability to multi-task
- Great aesthetic and brand understanding
- Strong background in woven and knit construction and development
- Degree in Fashion Buying and Merchandising a plus
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with fabric sourcing and development
- Knowledge of MS Office.
- Knowledge of PLM and Photoshop preferred
Salary Range: $55K – $58K *Actual base salary for this role within the above range will be based upon experience, qualifications and/or assigned unit.
