PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
CPC Education and Career Services (ECS) provides dynamic programs and activities that bridge youth and adults with their highest educational, economic and leadership potential. ECS believes it is never too early or too late to start learning, which is why we use an asset-based approach to maximize clients’ current strengths. Whether in our schools, community centers, or internship sites, ECS creates equitable learning environments that promote leadership development, self-advocacy, and community building. Our programs equip clients with essential skills and experiences today so that they are empowered to take the next step tomorrow.
CPC Education and Career Services is currently seeking a Part time Instructor for after-school programming (NDA Highschool) at Creators Academy. These programs offer academic assistance, along with cultural and recreational activities that provide youth participants with enriching and meaningful experiences while equipping them with the resources, support and guidance needed for continued success throughout high school.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Under the supervision of the Multi-site Director, the Instructor will:
- Provide High School Students an individualize and/or in a small group setting homework help assistance and tutoring in the following subject matter (Preferably in STEM)
- Mathematics (e.g., Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus)
- Science (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, and Physics)
- Other subjects (Varies)
- Provide academic guidance and mentorship to fellow students as they navigate high school and into adulthood
- Assist with administrative aspects of the CPC programming through data entry, compiling, filing and organizing participant folders
- Assist with workshop, case managements, special events, field trips and volunteering events
- Fulfill other related duties as outlined by the Multisite Director
QUALIFICATIONS
- College Student Preferred
- Prior experience working with High School youth in an after-school setting
- Strong work ethic and demonstrated passion for working with diverse populations, especially immigrant and low-income communities
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of MS office applications and virtual platform such as Zoom, Teams, and Webex.
- Fluency in Arabic/Chinese/Spanish a plus
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS OVERVIEW
- $18-$22 per hour; 10 hours per week
- CPC offers eligible part-time staff members mandatory benefits, including paid New York State sick time
